Funding Interests

Areas of Initiative

The Board of Directors has identified community issues where the Heritage Fund currently intends to take an active role. Special consideration will be given to grant requests that would positively impact these issues. These include:

  • Learning Systems and Life Long Learning
Provide support and leadership (where it would not duplicate the efforts of others) to the Community Learning System efforts which include all areas of learning - birth to death.
  • Welcoming Community
Nurture an attitude of respect for all individuals and promote an appreciation of the richness that diversity brings to our community.
  • Downtown Development
Facilitate coordinated efforts to increase the vitality of the downtown - everybody's neighborhood. A vibrant downtown has a direct and dramatic impact on regional economic development efforts, community pride and other aspects of a county's quality of life.
  • Economic Growth
Facilitate coordinated efforts to advance economic growth in Bartholomew County.

Areas of Interest

As a community foundation, the Heritage Fund addresses the broad needs of residents of Bartholomew County which fall generally into five categories:

  1. Civic Affairs
To include the support of programs related to criminal justice, community development, employment, citizen involvement, leadership training, and other general community activities.
  2. Cultural Affairs
To include the support of programs and facilities which are designed to offer widespread opportunities for participation and appreciation of the arts.
  3. Education
To include support for innovative educational programs serving a broad spectrum of our residents.
  4. Health and Medical
To include the support of hospitals, health and medical related programs.
  5. Social Services
To include the support of human service organizations, programs for children and youth and services for seniors.
